The Impact of Complete Revascularization in the ISCHEMIA Trial study was a pre-specified sub-study of the ISCHEMIA clinical trial (International Study of Comparative Health Effectiveness with Medical and Invasive Approaches). Among patients with chronic coronary artery disease (CAD) without prior myocardial revascularization, randomized to invasive treatment (surgical or percutaneous) versus conservative treatment in the original study, the authors prospectively evaluated: 1) the outcomes of complete anatomical revascularization (CAR) or complete functional revascularization (CFR) compared to incomplete revascularization, and 2) the potential impact of complete revascularization (CR) in all patients in the intervention arm compared to conservative management.
